ScubaWare development began in 1987 at a Boulder, Colorado dive center. The design roots began in a dive center and
reflect the needs of today's dive centers.
Considered the leader in dive retail software, ScubaWare was introduced
at the 1989 DEMA trade show in Las Vegas. The program records and
integrates point-of-sale transactions; customer information; specialty
items including classes and trips; store inventory; rentals; repairs;
and custom reports. In 1992, a Boat Charter Module was added for
retailers who offer charter opportunities.
In 1993, Divers Software, Ltd. acquired ScubaWare. Divers Software
evolved four years prior with their initial product names D.I.V.E.R.S.
(Destination Information Visually Enhanced Reservation System), a
travel reservation program for dive centers written in Advanced
Revelation. Today D.I.V.E.R.S. is part of ScubaWare.
In January of 2003 Divers Software merged with RetailWare, Inc.
In addition to the ScubaWare Point-Of-Sale system, RetailWare, Inc. also markets software packages for the general
retail industry, dive resort booking offices, dive manufacturers, and dive instructors.
